Deadly
Deadly is © James Fosdike
When the earth became barren and the air toxic, almost all its people abandoned Australia.
Only the indigenous population remains, refusing to leave while attempting to resuscitate a dead land.
It is a dangerous task. The wildlife have become twisted and mutated with a taste for flesh. Breathing the air will either kill you or turn you into a living nightmare. A lone terraformer rescues a child that can breathe air. He wants to know why, but the kid's not talking. He'll find out before the week is through, if he can stay alive.

The other two? Oh, that would be telling...
But don't worry about the giving up, I can't even draw stick figures!
Again Foz you have left me hanging and worried about what is going to happen next. I hope everything will be alright for the boy and Vaughn. Also ever a name for the boy? or is it always be Boy? I have to see what happens next!!
This month's competitor Sci-Fi Drive-by has some bold predictions for the future.... including, if you zoom in on the shelf behind the librarian's head in the library scene, a print version of Deadly!
Well done Bubsy, i too need a bigger screen. Keep up the good work you old dog.
WOW MAN!! I just caught up on 5 pages!! BLOODY AWESOME!! I"M HANGING to see what Owen.. I mean.. Boy doers with those eyes!! LOVE IT DUDE!! LOOOOOOVE IT!!!
michaeljasper- screen 50, that's where he is;) and you SHOULD be worried...
TheFarlander- Catch a break? Not in MY comic...
James Clayton- Thanks dude, lovely comment, makes me feel warm and Fozzy...
tomstan- Thanks very much dude!
Elae- Cheers Niki! Love your work matey!
Badger- Aw, thanks dude! Not happy that I make you want to give up though, sheesh! So what are the other two, out of interest?
Bagelman- You go enjoy those old people and oranges, Deadly will be here for you when you get back, I reckon you might like what he does next week...
runeman- Thanks very much mate, glad you like it!
dmon- Thanks mate, that's nice of you to say. Now get drawing!
hallmitchell- Damn. I thought I was gonna be rich for a second...Thanks for spreading the word man, the more people read it, the happier I'll be! I've done 2 complete comics before this, one in Highschool (97) called 'Eraserhead', and one in 2004 called 'Brotherboy and Sistergirl' which I only illustrated (rather badly). Don't bother seeking them out, as the back of a detergent bottle is more entertaining. I've got another webcomic called 'Licked' that just needs a few more doodlings before it's ready to upload, that's written by by good mate and talented cat, Josh Tyler. Plus we're working on something else together that's very cool, but too early to start blabbin' about...
Wow this is absolutely amazing!!!!
Holy hell... A whole nother WEEK till we get to see what creepy kid does? If I weren't going to be in Florida on Vaca for most of that, I'd be pacing impatiently.
There are a few comics on here that make me wish I could draw, so I could draw like them. There are three comics that make me glad I can't draw, because the art's so good I would just want to give up. Yours is one of them.
DEADLY is always stunning. I can't wait for more.
Just caught up with this Foz...and..Oh MY!!
This is great stuff man and the story and line work just gets better with each new panel.I love your colors that you work with. Awesome stuff here!!
Outstanding stuff Foz!
These last few pages have been awesome. Every time and left hanging on "what now?" Masterful...
Can't a man catch a break? Damn you pokey bastards and your midget underlings, DAMN YOU! I have every faith that Vaughn will regain his wits and thoroughly gut the lot of them.
Oh MAN! Where is The Boy now? Sheesh. After page 49, I'm getting worried. Very worried.
LOL. I don't know anyone with a spare $100 million. Yet i think pop culture is starting to go a little " head trip". I think Tim Burton's Alice in Wonderland 3D will propel that along.
YOur comic is great escapism and a head trip. I've told my friends to check out your comic. That's the biggest wrap i can give this.
Is this your only comic? Or do you have other works floating around?
WOW! the layouts, color, drawing and writing all come together with great intensity and it keeps getting better. I hope I'll be able to do something this worthy at some point.
michaeljasper- Cheers bud. I'm glad you're enjoying it. I think you'll like what's coming up!
hallmitchell- Hey dude, thanks. I KINDA like the opening scenes, but if I get the chance I'd like to improve on them. I spend more time now doing a single page than it took to do the first 8 pages all together! Oh, and if you know someone with a spare 100 million lying about, let zuda know in their 'feedback' section, and we'll get the film adaptation rolling...;)
Thanks for your comments, guys and girls, and thanks for reading. You guys rock.
Badger- Mine isn't, but I'm getting there...
ursis- Ha! Sweet! I'm gonna have to come round and read it on your screen once I'm done with this season...
Badger- Indeed.
Rhynna- Thanks matey, that's a lovely comment. Holding off on showing Vaughns' face was all part of my plan, I'm glad it's working for you.
Stone Mane- Cheers mate, I think you'll dig the next page...
joeyjojo- The pressure is indeed rising, and will continue to do so...Cheers mate.
saulone- Thanks very much Dan! I was about halfway through drawing page 48 when I had a listen to Ron Perezzas' Podcast, and his No.1 piece of advice? DON'T BREAK THE GRID. I was like 'oops'...but yeah, I think it suited the chaos, and I did my best to make sure it was easy to follow...
Go the killer cane toads! Now this type of film is what Australia should be making.
Hi I really like the artwork. The opening scenes are fantastic. I really like your use of colour. Good taste.
Ooooh. Nice. Gruesome, but NICE.
Page 48 - Easily one of my favorites to date. I love Vaughn's expressions on this page and the panel layout is really nice and goes well with the rage and chaos of the scene. I especially like that streaked red background in the one panel set amongst the green/browns - nice design work and as always top-notch illustration.
This reminds me of what me mum used to say: "Don't run with that or you'll put an eye out!!"
wow, vaughn is really starting to take a hammering. i think its starting to get to him, just the mounting pressure, you know.
That last page really kicks butt. Talk about some serious action, looks great. Keep up the good work! :)
Glad to see more of the main character's face makes him seem more human and real. Plus he is not so bad looking hehe. I really enjoy the story as well as the artwork, amazing job Foz! You are awesome!
My word.
Hey Foz, I just got a new Cinema Display and your comic looks even more incredible on the big screen. Enthralling read and fantastic visual feast.
My work here is done...
I forgot to mention, I started up a blog, and my first entry I write about how Deadly came to be, among other things. Read it here!

Cheers guys and girls, hope you like it!
Crunky!!- You would? That's awesome. I'll allow it. ;)
Badger- When you wake up to hungry two-tonne wombats on your doorstep, a little midget with glowing veins is more of an annoyance than a surprise. Screen 47 is another story though...;)
Thanks for reading, EVERYONE. Y'all rock.
autokang- Thanks very much, mate. Hope you dig the rest!
Arborean- That's all Vaughn does between dawn and dusk, he broods... Thanks mate.
coffeehousecomics- You're very welcome, Chuck. A good, long hard, read is all I can ask for, really. Thanks for taking the time mate, it's appreciated.
furman- Thanks dude, coming from such a talented cat as yourself, it means a lot. Rock on.
dmon- Cheers mate, thanks for reading it.
michaeljasper- Thanks dude, tune in next week for Vaughns retort...
Badger- Ha! Time for you to go and write some Deadly Slash Fiction. I'm shuddering just thinking about it...Ew. I've thought about it enough...too much. Now it's like a song that won't leave my head. THANKS Badger...
Yet another amazing-looking page, though I'm (only slightly) ashamed to admit that my first thought on seeing the first panel was, 'and that's what you call an unlucky pierre'.
sorry.
I mean -- the page is great, what happens to Vaughn, not so much so... ;)
Oh snap. Not good (screen 47)
Fantastic comic! Can't wait to read more.
Huge jump in quality in the art and story. This is incredible. The monster design, the inking, the coloring! Damn...
I can't get over how amazing the visuals are with this comic. It takes me nearly ten minutes to view one page! So, I guess I should thank you for the seven hours and counting of pure comics bliss!
Man, I love this comic. It's so broody.
This just gets better and better, nice work.
Well, he doesn't seem terribly surprised to see electro-zombie thing, does he?
And no spiders is just fine, cheers!
I would very much like to see more!
joeyjojo- That seems to be the case, my friend...but don't think about how they died, think about how they LIVED...;)
James Clayton- Hey dude, thanks a lot! I own the first and the 3rd, gotta get my mitts on the second...I think you're gonna like these upcoming screens bud...
Badger- ooo, censored. Naughty...still no spiders...sorry.
Gnar Duce- Thanks dude! I'll do my best. :)
celw- Aw, YOU are...
grizzlywilliam- ESPECIALLY if you're selling something. You should see what he does to Jehovah's Witnesses...
math-san- Could be. Maybe that's what I WANT you to think.;)
TheFarlander- Thanks very much mate, and thanks even more for the fan-art! I love it! Much appreciated, and it made me laugh, too...
korrected- Thanks very much mate, hope you dig what's next!
ursis- Cheers Bear, Love ya!
Thanks for reading, guys and girls, much appreciated!
Awesome Foz.
Man, that first panel on page 45 is haunting. In a good way.
I don't know how, but your art just keeps getting better and better. My humble tribute sir...

Oh, so THAT's where 'The Hand' comes from...
Vaughn: He'll Close The Door in Your MF'n Face.
Brilliant
great great art...keep it up!
No, you didn't hear anything *facepalm*
And I sincerely ****ing hope that's not some revolting mutant spider-wombat hybrid... or anything invloving a giant mutant spider. Cos I know you've got some giant spiders out there, and we ain't seen 'em yet...
Some amazing-looking pages, and I'm liking your story-telling skills very much!
