frequentcontributor -- all part of the master plan. There's a lot of story here, these are just the first 8 pages.
the biggest thing is that I didn't want to cram the kitchen sink into this intro. I've seen that done far too often-- you end up with a giant exposition mess. This was just a fun little intro ala the first 10 minutes of Raiders of the Lost Ark...we'll get to the organizations and character connections down the line!

Also, I think you missed an opportunity to make the "black eye" guy someone closer to the protagonist, like her boyfriend or best (male) friend, instead of a jerky jock guy who she already doesn't like... As it is, we're just finding that the guy we know is a jerk is also an evil spy...

I generally liked this, although the art wasn't as good as I thought it would be (some of the action stuff got confusing...), and the narration text boxes were a little distracting and, mixed with the dialogue, made me lose track of what was happening. The concept is pretty cool, though. Reminds me of GateCrasher... I just wish we could have seen more of the organization behind the spy, like an underground lair of people responsible for Spy 16's teleporting and mission briefings, etc. Otherwise, nice.

I generally read all my Zudas in Full Screen mode-- It's like going from a small 13 inch TV to a 50 inch flatcreen!

JeffAlbertson y'know, oddly, of those three I've only seen Buffy. Spyboy I consciously stayed away from (despite Peter David being one of my favorite writers), and though Javi is a friend of a friend, I only read the first issue of Middleman.
I'll admit, there is a genre at play here-- one that is loosely defined, maybe adventure empowerment? And with any genre there are conventions to be paid. The interesting part is when the story forks off onto its own road-- that's the most important part of the story: The telling. These were the first 8 pages and for the future (as far as I'm aware) we aren't treading on any of the same roads as other stories people seem to compare us to.

This has some potential, but right now it seems a bit too derivative of Buffy, SpyBoy and the Middleman. This is probably the sort of story that I'd be more likely to follow in print form than on the web. Keep at it, though. Like I said, it has potential.

Has potential, but not the most solid offering. The art has some great moments and there are times where it lapses for me in terms of perspective and consistency. Kinda reminds me of Jim Valentino.

I like that it starts with a bang. I had a weird thought that she was actually a victim of some kind of abuse or trauma, and that her 'missions' were actually escape mechanism fantasies of power and control, and not at all real - only products of her mind. And that she learns from them and draws enough strength to ultimately confront, fight, and triumph over her real world problem. Weird, I know, but that's the idea that your comic sparked in me.

jderig Thanks very much! The KP comparison- sure, I get that. Funny enough, I've never seen an episode though-- I can see that there are surface level details that are similar (high school, red hair, adventure)-- But, I can positively say that this story goes to places that KP could never go. Oooh- a tease? To where? Well-- Vote to find out! =)
Glad you had a great time reading it!

Ooooo, I like this. It's not the most original of plots (Kim Possible, anyone?) but it appears to be going at things with a more introspective look, while usually the high school age spy is played off as a comedy with few serious moments. Anyways, can't wait to see more stuff, cheers!

Cally balances a delicate tightrope of her high school life and her spy world. But as she delves deeper into missions of exotic locales, mysterious agents, and dazzling deathtraps, the startling scope of the Chaos Imperious plot begins to unfold before her; challenging everything she knows about her past, present, and future…oh yeah, and to make matters worse-- no one has asked her to the dance yet!
