The traveling carnival freak shows seen in and out of our small country towns hold a secret that shakes our nation's way of life. Those performers, to whom we so willing give a nickel, possess talents that are well beyond that of mere shock. A fat man with adjustable girth, a strongman whose forearms naturally produce steroids under stress, a miniature magician, and a bearded lady whose hair needs more than just conditioner to be tamed. Under the guise of national security the carnivals have been forced onto reservations. Their cartwheels replaced by cinder blocks. The government tightens restrictions on the so-called "Freak Cities" and they become prisons in all but name. In such a situation what is there to do but rebel? In the carnival freak's first major attempt to gain back their liberty it becomes frighteningly clear that the government is willing to take drastic measures to keep control of its new, powerful population.

This is far more entertaining, original, and better-executed than the other submissions. How suspicious...they must have their friends make accounts and vote in DROVES...
Anyways, you have my honest vote. Awesome!
Beautiful work. I love it! The designs, the style, all stellar. You deserve a much higher ranking mate, all the best for the future!

This is freaky! But I like it. Page 4 is my fav. Cool drawing and inking style. You have my Vote.
Got my vote!
HairballOne: Trencher was created and illustrated by Keith Giffen!
When Brock likes your comic, you know you're doing something right
Very cool scene with all the stretchiness going on, and I like the idea of circus/carnival folk as the "powered individuals" of a comic.
Wow, this one just knocked me out. Gets my vote on the art alone, but it's also quite funny.
This is really crazy! Reminds me a lot of the old Trencher book from Image, (the creator's name escapes me right now). Fun and original. I liked it!
it's amazing so freaky so interesting concept and the art i just love it
This is awesome:) That's all there is to it.
This is def my fave. I love it.
I love the concept. There's a lot that can be done with this. And the art is really strong. Very French looking.
Some really awesome shots and panel layouts here!
I wish we would have gotten a little more story with the pretty art!
Good luck!

I agree. This is really tasty. Is it wrong to feel like I wanna eat those trees?
very beautiful! very original! great package. best of luck!
-grobert79, Thanks man.
-Nova3Arts, I'm glad you think so. Thanks for the vote.
-Caribou Gorn, Thank you.
-TravisB, I already gave you your hat back.
-mpd57, Thanks for the freaky review. It's awesome to read such a positive writeup, and I love the bit about it being too European.
-zerocalcare, Thanks for the not understanding. It's appreciated.
-middlenameboom, I'm glad you like the layout, thanks.
-BlaqueSaber, Thanks!
-BlueMaxx, I had a lot of fun drawing that last page, I'm happy to hear it showed. Thanks.
Loved that final splash-page. This grew on me as fast as the fatman in those 8 pages. I could really see this working. Very nice.
Like everyone else, I feel this is very original. I really liked it and can't wait to see where it goes. Good luck.
The layout and designs on this comic are really interesting. Love how this comic is put together.
i don't understand why this low ranking. Great character design, funny story and very original concept and artwork.
Lot of excellent comics this month.
Good work!
A freaky review

I want my hat back Mac. If you lost my hat I will never speak to you again.
Also the comic is pretty good. I give it an A, but not an A+, because I hate the square dialogue boxes. They should be triangles.
GREAT! It is fun and nice. -Caribou Gorn
You got my vote,
unique, strange and interesting very cool both in story and art.
Interesting premise... Interesting indeed.
-hamax1, I love the League, I'm pumped to even make it into the same paragraph. Thanks.
-paperjoe, Totally. Thanks.
-snuffle, Great, I'm glad you think so.
-coffehousecomics, Thanks for the link, and of course the amazinglylongsuperword. I checked out your comics, I love the cloud passing hailstones. I'm swamped right now, but potentially my schedule is going to dramatically change in the near future. We should keep in touch.
-kingofcomics, I'm happy to hear so on all counts. I'm really into panels in general so I'm stoked to have mine mentioned so positively. To have it talked about so positively along with everything else this month, much less this year is sweet.
-mpd57, Thanks. I'm glad to hear the forecast of an upwards trend.
-njordsman, Thanks a lot. Seems like there's some pretty stiff competition this month, but "travesty" is appreciated. Also thanks for the vote.
-mromer, I'm excited that you think as much. Thanks.
Hey, I just wanted to thank everybody for all of the great feedback. I'm really pumped to be up here and that people seem to be so positive is awesome. Sorry I've been a bit late in joining in with the comments, I've been helping my girlfriend set up for a show/going to a wedding/etc. But those things are all just wrapping up so I'll be responding much more consistently from now on. Again, thanks everyone.
This is by far the best comic this month. It surely doesn´t deserve 9th and I bet it will make its way up in no time. As soon people realize how good this is. Congratulations on the great job.
9th? C'mon, this is a travesty.
This is a work of genius! If this doesn't rank higher it's only going to make us all look stupid later on. Don't say I didn't warn you ;-)
I am thoroughly impressed by everything about this comic. The art is a little stylistic, which can be off-putting to some, so I can see why it's not in first, but ninth? No, this is in my top three this month, easily. People who want to know how to do visual storytelling should use this as a guide. It's so well paneled that you don't even need words, but then the words you DO use are all very natural feeling and often very funny. You've written a character speaking with a lisp and not made it annoying or off-putting. This isn't just one of the best comics this month, this is one of the best comics this year.
This art is pure...I think I'd have to invent a new word...amazinglyawesomelyhypercoolgreatwonderful. Dear god man, I'd love to work with you! www.dcstrip.com but only as a writer...you got that art all to yourself...I put a link for this comic on my webpage!
Wow. Weird. Freaky. A little disturbing. I like it!
yay
great paneling, love your gestural/ figurative style. Dialogue is a tad wordy but reminds me of the League in a good way, and so does the story oddly. Great topic for web-comic, and great art style for the web as well. Good luck on the promotions.
Awesome, crazy-sweet art. Concept is intriguing as hell, too. Good luck, sir, got my vote.
Crazy. Original. I like it.
I have never seen anything like this before. Weirdly original. I like!
Really fun comic! Fun to look at and fun to read. Good luck!
Well, it definetly lives up to the name "Freak City". Very disturbing yet very interesting.
The art is exquisite. The color, perfectly complementing the line work...and the Fat Man, GENIUS!
Dyde, mac, you are asleep and either you or caultine is snoring ;pretty loudt. It mafde me not want to watch the movie,. YOu totalle eat the balles. LAters.
This is incredible. I love it.
smart. original. excellent writing.
got my vote.
This is absolutely amazing!! Fresh in every way. Stylish art that pops, and a crazy good setup. Reading the synopsis helped, but was not required in order to get this. I will of course heed the 'heavy saturation comment campaign' and read everything before voting, but of the six I have read so far, this one really stands out.
It reminds me of the Rugrats style. (Somewhat with the color)
not my cup of tea with the story but it does stand you out.
Which is a +.
Really cool, totally stands out from the crowd. I liked it a lot!! Great job!! Good luck!
Cool art.
