One night a star fell poisoning the Earth. The age of the Zeno had arrived– half dead humans intent on spreading their star disease until all became like them. But humanity is nothing if not resourceful. As states fell siege walls went up and life went on behind them.
Later a star rose amongst humanity’s ranks, Kinger Loade, singing songs of revolution and resistance.
A string of misery if you’re a Zeno and the best guitarist this side of the plague. The son of a preacher man Kinger spent his formative years travelling the new dustbowl hunting down Zeno’s with his father. At 19 he emerged from the desert with a bloodied guitar in one hand and his daddy’s dog collar in the other. What became of the good Reverend Loade is a mystery that Kinger doesn’t ever want uncovered.
Kinger made straight for what was left of New York with a song in his heart and an idea in his head.
No matter how desperate life became he had learned he couldn’t die. He had found he’d something other than talent and sought others like him. Musicians with more than music in their arsenal; Reap a giant of a man and bass player, Violet Spray a lightning fast drummer both behind the kit and on her feet. They are The Symptoms.
Their music inspires what’s left of humanity, while their powers protect all who seek a better world. They will soon discover why they are special, on that day the world will end.
This is their story.

The first two pages were great. Loved them. Have to second what a few others are saying though, the switch to the band made my interest wane, though I do enjoy diverse storylines. But your opening was so strong! You pushed the envelope on the first couple of pages and I really wish the next ones would have done the same.

heeellllzzz mutthhhaaa effffinnn yeah!
dude, this is OUT OF THE BOX as it gets! I likey-
Uhh... okay. I like the art, kind of a Mike Allred with a pinch of Brian Stelfreeze, in there, but the zombies + superhero rock band story isn't doing anything for me. I really liked where the first two pages were going, except that they were followed by three more incredibly boring pages of origins that didn't live up to the first guy's, and it is incredibly difficult to make music look awesome in a comic book, and it doesn't really work, here. I wish we could have seen the group already together and get the story going, but the 8 pages seemed a bit mis-managed...
There is much to like about this submission, and most of what can be said already has, but I'll say it again. The first two pages in, I thought this was the entry to beat, but by the end the initial thrill had gone. There is a ton of potential here, literally a ton, the internet shudders bearing it's collossal weight. However, I don't think this is your month, but please don't let it be your last!
p.s. When I hear Zeno all I can think of is those wacky Scientologists? Coincidence?

Zuda September 2009 crossover comic.
Nice kick off gentlemen. Looking forward to seeing more.
I don't know about you guys, but I'm actually waiting for a comic where humans seek revenge on Zombies by consuming them. I really want someone to work a roast beef comment in it :) Other than that, page one of this is sick. I like the character designs but almost looks like someone took over pencils at page 3- odd.
Great artwork. OK story.
Thanks Furman, much appreciated. The band's interviewed here http://thesymptomsrock.blogspot.com/
Check it out to see just what inspires Kinger and the guys.
Cool stuff :)
awesome dudes, great work
GREAT STUFF GUYS!!! Cheers from the Dominican Republic!
Good work and best of luck this month!
The shot to the eye was a good idea, cool, and a good way to start! I like gory, sexy comix. Great colors, like the art, Good Luck!
Hi guys thanks for checking us out and for your feedback all of it's appreciated. Chris - if we get to tell the rest of the story you'll see that there's nothing standard about our zeno's (notice I didn't use the other Z word). Violet's wardrobe is fairly provocative but not without reason and hopefully we'll get a chance to explore that in the future. The upcoming band interview will reveal an awful lot more about the characters and their world - It should be online shortly at thesymptomsrock.blogspot.com
Thanks again for the taking the time to check us out - we really do appreciate it.
For some reason, this really does it for me. I'd like a little more of a hint as to where the story is going to go, (and hope its not a standard zombie tale), but something about it all comes together so well for me. The dude shooting himself in the eye, not knowing why, and then showing up with an eyepatch later on does wonders for characterization.
I wish there was less objectification of the female lead, but given the context of a punk rock band, that could just be her personality and will factor into the story (I hope).

Love the art and the concept. At last a new idea about Zombies... will we find out later why they are compelled to repeat the word "Zeno" over and over? Great work guys!
The pacing on this is great, and it's a rare treat in that it reads very comfortably in the viewer (not having to go full-screen, I mean). Good luck, guys. I like this.
I really like Kinger's pose on page 7 :)
Nice.... I really love the artwork. Good luck :)
Good luck
Thanks man, another Mike Allred comparison. Sweet.
By the way, check out Stephen Thompson and Declan Shalvey's awesome Symptoms fan art at
http://eclecticmicks.blogspot.com/
Wow, this is like Mike Allred's art with that Whedon story about a band that is metahuman. I liked it.
Demo it ain't, but the storytelling almost makes me forget the bland art.
Cheers guys, Bryy, thanks for the review, its great to get feedback
Thanks Liamq - we try!
Superb art, Will, and a great story to boot. Well done guys.
This had me intrigued from page one. Lovely art, great premise - well done, Will and Dave.
