Pieces of Eden
A serial killer has been stalking women at the edge of sprawling, decayed city. The city was once a great teeming metropolis—but now it is a place that time has forgotten. Populated with degenerates, dropouts and criminals, it is a deadly world with danger at every turn.
Unbound by the lawless land, a killer has sought out his victims and one by one he lured them away into the countryside where he does his dark business. Has latest victim, is a girl named Eden. She came to the city looking for something, but like everyone else, forgot it in favor of living a life of excess.
Having fallen on bad times, Eden became a prostitute. Somehow, she has survived her encounter with the killer. When she wakes after the attack, her mind is cloudy and confused. Her thoughts are not just her own.
Rattling around in her skull, are the memories, thoughts and personalities of all the other girls murdered by the killer. Somehow, by surviving, Eden has absorbed their souls into her own. With this quiet menagerie of voices in her mind, Eden sets out for revenge. The killer lives at the heart of the city, so block-by-block, Eden must survive as she encounters violence, dark magic and a some very unsavory people.

Very haunting, from the story, to the art, to the entire concept. Man, would love to see more of this series!
This is tremendous. The art and the text remind of me collages, composite and delicate. I would love to see the narrative continue.
Thanks so much for your comment, Dr. Quandary! No ongoing projects right now, hopefully soon!
Woah, hadn't realized you guys were responsible for Mr. Crimson too, but that clicks now that I've made the connection. Another great work in progress.
I'm afraid this only roused my appetite without bedding her back down.. That being said, I really hope you guys find a way to continue your narrative in the future. I love the stylized art -- it almost has a vintage pulp feel to it at times -- and the setup was just enough to grab me, although I'm sure the eight-page submission format might have limited it somewhat. Do you guys have any other ongoing projects I could check out?
Lizz: I don't know if this comic will be in the Invitational, but maybe someday we'll get to finish this story. Thanks for reading!
Damn. I can't believe this didn't win. I hope you come back for the invitationals I keep hearing about!
This has strong potential as a film. Does the entire story exist or is this all there is at this point in time? I run Red Scream Films (www.redscreamfilms.com) and we are always looking for unique material. Let's talk.
Thank you!
Very cool. The type of story I was looking for but know I was looking for. Hope this story gets a finish.
Thanks everybody for your comments, criticisms, praise and votes during the contest!

@ JSLoomis and all interested in the future of this series: without financial support it'll be way too complicated for us to produce new pages on a regular basis, so unless we find a new home for Eden, it seems she will take an endless vacation :)

However, we look forward to participate in a future contest with another project.

Thanks all and congratulations to the lucky winner!
I'm trying to find out if that purple chick is single?
i really didnt mean to do that.
i only clicked it once.
i hope you can delete all those other ones.
im sorry. hopefully this doesnt affect your friendship with ericka :)
very cool.
stoked on more...
Ericka "turned me on" to this, fabulous.
Hoping that this is one of the strips that doesn't just disappear after the Zuda competition - keep us posted if you don't hit the magic "#1" here....
te ganaste mi voto, la verdad, no lo lei, pero tu arte me encanto, visite tu deviant y tambien me fascino .
SaLUdos desde Córdoba Señor!
way too dark for me. could have interesting future though 4 stars
There are no dull subjects. / There are only dull writers.
H.L. Mencken
Thank you for not being one of the dull ones. Your revenge plot is delivered with an interesting morality, i.e. the moral structure that imbues all fiction and shows a world as it is in contrast to the way it should be.
The vengeful hooker has been done of course but the metaphysical aspects lend themselves to a deeper examination of the lead character's self concept. She has the problem of reclaiming or maintaining her self concept, but as a female Frankenstein's monster, that is going to make for an interesting character study. There is a lot of potential in the thematic thrust of this work.
Not to mention your artwork serves the story very well.
Kudos to you sir.
Thanks everybody for your support! (friends, relatives, complete strangers :) It's much appreciated!!!

(and thanks to Philip for taking the time to do the interview!)
Amazing, I really like it.
In my country we call a comic like this RECOPANTE.
Congratulations to Diego, great art and story!
Nice interview, guys. I really liked seeing the black and white versions of the artwork. Sounds like you've got a unique collaboration going on that really serves the project well. I'd be pretty pleased if Eden could pull out an eleventh hour win.
Visit The Knave's Log (http://knaveofkrypton.blogspot.com) for an interview with Seth and Diego all about how Pieces of Eden came to be.
I think Pieces Of Eden is a VERY good comic, it definetely deserves to be in the top spots. I am giving my vote to you :)
There are two projects in this month's competition that I would consider putting money on. This is one of them. I've never met or talked to anyone from the creative teams on either team, and I have no personal interest (other than the desire to be entertained) in either project.
Please don't assume that just because you don't like something, that no one else should, either.
annannymouse--
I generally let negative comment just slide off my back, there's no way to really please everyone. That said, I find your tone exceedingly rude. I don't expect everyone to like what we do, as I said below we're experimenting with the form-- what works for some may not for others. I think it's in poor taste to imply we are in second place thanks only to friends and family.
This comment page is full of kudos from people I have never met. It's really ignorant to assume that just because you aren't a fan that there is no possible we we could do this well fairly. The Zuda staff liked us enough to put us into the competition, didn't they?
You say yourself that we're all trying to be positive and supportive-- but you aren't doing either. And again, you aren't required to like our work, but to call out the Zuda format as flawed, and imply that we're bringing down the quality of the competition and webcomics in general just because you don't like our comic is not "fair criticism," it is insulting. It's quite possible to give criticism, even negative, without resulting to petty rudeness.
It's so amazing to see your work full screen, page after page - I love it. The artwork really brings the story to life, and pulls you deeper into Eden's world. Looks like the beginning of an interesting journey. Beautifully done!
I have never commented before, but I felt compelled after seeing that this is still in the second spot. Pieces of Eden is not a very well done webcomic, especially by comparison to the other competitors. Like any online competition, this is likely maintaining its place due to support from friends and family of the creators (I don't stand by that accusation because I don't know how it works). Zuda seems to work fairly democratically, but to draw a parallel it doesn't help good comics win if the rest of the votes are divided among the Green Party, the Libertarian Party, the Inkers Party, etc. Anyway, I just think that as far as artwork, it is nice enough (though not easy to follow) but story is really not that comprehensible. I know that we are all trying to be positive and supportive, but if we had to spend money, would we pay to read PoE? I wouldn't. And I think that is fair criticism. The synopsis is way better than the execution and this comic would have worked better if it had the same clarity of the synopsis.
primo te mando un fuerte abrazo, muy buenos los dibujos
Brilliantly drawn and constructed; it's a fascinating premise and the treatment is fascinating, unique, and deeply chilling.
Thanks so much for your comments and votes! Gracias!
Acá estoy dejandote mi voto :)
Miles de exitos!!!
Muchisimo!
Slds!
very interesting. makes me think of kill bill. you got my vote.
The art reminds me of black light posters.
i don't think the artwork is that good, to me it looks like it was made by somebody who doesn't really have enough talent/skill, but who tried hard enough anyway, that the artwork passes as some kind of gritty style.
story wise, it barely made sense. i have a vague idea of what is going on.
This should be in the bottom five, not in the top two.
, hehe ok let me say something again. Um, the art is great, and the color pallet are great. The script may be a little vague but I may have forgotten to mention also, I did not vote yet. Zuda is awesome.
I guess you, Tanklab are a "Sherwood", wow pretty cool. Reason being, hehe, is I am a "Sherwood" too and I got shot in the Kidney when I was 7 years old, by a neighbor playing with a gun and misfiring, sort of.... So when I say you wrote that, I was a little paranoid, but Pieces of Eden may yet still get my vote, I am just getting started. HAHA, thanks for writing and commenting and let this thread continue please as hopefully your artwork.
Last I checked, my kidney's were cool. Sorry the plot isn't making you happy. Hopefully we'll get enough vote to continue on, and we can really show where we're going.
To everyone else who's votes and left us comments-- totally appreciated. I'm glad our brand of weird strikes a chord with so many of you!
-Seth
Can I please ask who is Seth Sherwood, the author? Diego Tripodi is that your alias? Just seems os weird, because I know a Sherwood who has a bad Kidney and when you said that and I seen the name, I thought that was weird?
The art is really great, I think the script should be plotted a little better?
i've got a hard on for page 2's 1st panel. it's like eye candy. delicious.
beautiful imagery for both story and looks all around. i dig it.
Thanks so much for your kind words!
nice work, hopefully the story will stay smart.
good stuff, nice sandman style art. really like it.
Out of this month's competition, this is my favorite. You establish quite a bit in the first 8 pages and keep it interesting. It's a Frankenstein Noir, curious where it's going to go!
Nice to see something taking such a unique approach doing so well. Great job, guys!
I thought I was going to hate this, but the writing wasn't so bad. The graphics are crisp, clear, easy to look at. I wasn't entirely sure what was going on but I'm sure all will become clear. It's in danger of becoming a bit juvenille what with the hookers posing left right and centre. I just hope she gets dressed properly before going on a killing spree! She might catch a nasty cold after all!
Great stuff, fellers! Really enjoyed it!
Enthralling story with art that is just smack-me-down fantastic. I want to wallpaper my house with this. Eden's definitely got a piece of me, I want more!
Thanks for your comments!

Spider Zero: Photos are just another tool that can help achieve a particular effect. For this comic, I used some photo references (for example, page 5: I took a photo that would give me a better idea of how to draw the shadows on the doctor's face).
I have "experimented" doing comics tracing over photos ( http://diegotripodi.deviantart.com/art/Goodbye-Right-Eye-1-of-4-51739097 ) and using no reference at all ( http://diegotripodi.deviantart.com/art/Creepsville-Page-1-54666869 ). These choices have to do with creating graphic stuff that you think fit well the story you want to tell. Thanks for sharing your opinion!
P.S.: Seth is the writer.
The art is okay. Seth needs to rely on his own abilities and use less photo style manilpulation. I do like the gritiness of it all though. It has potential. Hopefully we'll see where it goes from here.
I really dig this.
EXCELLENT!
HOPE TO SEE MORE.
I would submit it to IMAGE COMICS for publication. Who knows as it definitely falls into their kind of genre.
Many thanks, everybody, for taking the time to read the comic and comment (and vote!), we really appreciate it.
