Talk about GRIM fairy tales! Nice black humor, a bit of Kill Bill mixed with Fables.

gotta agree about the art picking up after the first page. also i wasn't really taken by the story. general plot is good but been done somewhat recently, with vertigo's Fables being so big. i don't really get the whole "fairy tales magazines" thing. are they like porn? if so, they're not illegal enough to be killed for. are they like drugs? uhh.... how??? aren't they themselves fairy tales?? i dunno. as for your goal of making it a quick and easy, fun read: you certainly did that. and i'm sure you're not breaking down or anything, but 10th place isn't as bad this month as it's been in any of the months past.

yeah, one panel of being in the car would have handled the set up, smaller text boxes to not crowd the art, and we could have seen the wolf on screen 1 as well. It should get a couple more looks from everyone though.

Just looking through the screens again and that first screen has to be one of the worst first screens on Zuda which probably fixes in most people's minds the idea that this isn't so hot ... but then the pigs appear and that last screen is a joy! I'd volunteer to re-colour and re-letter anytime!

The wolf and happy death, either your just playing this for sick laughs (cool), or we could have a 'the departed' style showdown coming up if you win. Ever thought of something like The Shield only with fables, it is a little hard to get a bead on the direction your going. Again I wanted to click to screen nine, after re-reading I'm making you a fav and bumping up your star count from me, right after I click on post comment.

That might be what's wrong with me (I' am white) but I doubt that's it. I just wish there was a reason for the violence. While I love unrestrained use of excessive force, it is much more interesting with a understandable but reasonable motive. This provides no motive. I.E. why are fables banned and burned?

I agree this gets my vote; it does stand out from the rest - even if not necessarily because of quality. In any event, the front runner is quality work, so I don't mind squandering my vote on my fave!

Wow, first time I truly laugh while reading a zuda comic - but hey, my sense of humour is the one that's off. I'd love to vote for this, super funny, but the artwork, panel breakdown, visual story telling - not much there.
I LOVE THIS THOUGH!

I completely agree with mpd57 on this one. The energy is great. And that first image of the big bad wolf in SWAT gear is hilarious. It's almost as if an opportunity was indeed missed to really turn the classic story on its ear, the story could've simply been the big bad wolf COP coming over to check out a pig disturbance... great elements to work with especially when you think of how cops are the ones usually referred to as pigs. Of course, this direction might cut out your title character entirely. I would really think about what you can do to not only twist a concept, but satirize it as well. Make it relevant to more than just violent images. In the end, what are you saying about the story you're telling? South Park does this really well and I could see this concept using that approach quite brilliantly.

This one at least has a certain energy about it which I like. The central idea although not entirely original has some merit, but then this has to be lifted out of the ordinary by some witty writing. Unfortunately the cartoon violence doesn't quite bridge the gap between idea and execution (pun intended). There didn't seem to be any clear and compelling idea as to why any of these events were happening. What had the pigs done wrong? Distribution of fairy tales to minors? What? Having killed the pigs we seem to have lost at least one of the reasons for coming back to the strip later as I think I liked the pigs more than the hero. Come to that Big Bad Wolf didn't make it past the end either? That's the mileage in the strip gone already. Hang on, he's in the next one you say? How about the pigs? Doesn't anyone die anymore? Shame. I would've preferred Big Bad Wolf as the hero I think. Agent Happydeath himself seemed a unnecessary contrivance. Fairy tales really should police themselves don'tcha think?
-

Still, I liked the rough and ready energy of the art a lot. I think it flowed clearly except for the 'coming through the bathroom ceiling' scene and I even liked the splash panel which is usually a waste. I was certainly carried along by the pace and the whole story made at least some sort of sense. You correctly got down to the nitty gritty pretty quickly, so congratulations for that. The lettering was functional though awkward in places. Be nice if the editor could've helped you out by reading it at least. The colour wasn't bad, but could do with a bit more oomph as there's an awful lot of flat grey. I didn't like the large black gaps between panels either – could've been narrower and white, but that's just being picky.
-

Overall enjoyable and entertaining but there hardly seems any reasonable chance for progressing the story despite the synopsis. I can't see anyone warming to Happydeath because it's the fairytale characters that will ultimately win the day. They've lasted a lot longer already!

Thanks again to everyone that has read Agent Happydeath.
I'd like to answer a few of your questions. First, the Bad Wolf is in the script of the next issue. Second, Agent Happydeath is set up to be a series short stories. Each story begins with Happydeath being dispatch to his next assignment and ends with a happy ever after. As for my influences, I read everything from horror to superhero books and I love art of Eduardo Risso, Frank Miller, Eric Powell, Jim Lee, Huberto Ramos, Ben Templesmith, Gabriel Ba and my brother Russell Platt.
Thanks again for checking out Agent Happydeath!

Can't say that I enjoyed this all that much. I felt the story was weak and forced. You're dealing with fairy tales and folk lore; there're so many more interesting routes you could have taken with this than "The Three Bad Little Pigs Meet Deadpool". I liked the art style but the finishing wasn't there--I felt like I was looking at roughs. Mixed feelings on the Schoolhouse Rock color palette. Overall, this needs a lot of polish.

Anytime you have something similar to a popular series you will be compared too it. There's no escaping the similar idea of Fables. I think this has good ideas, but the script and layouts just don't work very well.

I think the folks that say it is too similar to fables are wrong. Firstly I love fables it's my fav comic, I have read every issue, and own them except for 1-3 and 5, BW does a great job with that book, but he didn't create the big bad wolf 3 pigs or any of the rest. Secondly this has a completely different tone more like training day meets Kill Bill IMO. The story is nice, the art fits the story, the letters are okay at best (not stand out, but you can read them) and the SFX are lame. BOOM in faint yellow doesn't cut it with me. The art for the first time ever reminds me of another Zuda comic Ramon on Day of Prey, it doesn't stun me by its greatness but it tells the story. It seems Splat wanted to show the wolf as being kind of a corrupt cop a'la training day or the shield, hence the last screen. The wolf wanted to bust the pigs not because they were doing something wrong but because of his own reasons (I say it this way not to spoil it) Kudos on having a twist ending on Zuda kind of like feverkind another comic this month.
-----------------------------------------------------------
Ill was right what is the deal with "if ain't you die" didn't you mean "If it ain't you die" or something like that????
------------------------------------------------------------
Did you have to edit this much from your first stab at a story to get it on Zuda, it seems like you might have had to do a little re-work, but that could just be me.
----------------------------------------------------------
Your synopsis wasn't long enough and it would have helped in the story set-up if you could have mentioned the wolf was a bad cop or what have you, talking about Grandma's house was a great throw away line, that let your readers put their on spin on the story.
------------------------------------------------------------
I thought the color was fine but it didn't wow me.
-----------------------------------------------------------
It seems like your setting this up to be a series of short stories, and I like that maybe a 8 screen update every two weeks is what you have in mind???
-----------------------------------------------------------
It is too bad you couldn't make happy death a fable as well though, comparisons to fables be damned, you could have made him a fable from Japan or China, that would have added an element of coolness plus east-meets-west drama.
-----------------------------------------------------------
3/5 stars from me.
