Very observant! You were able to notice little details that most who skimmed over at first might miss! You should also notice that as the panels go by, you will see less and less of Karl until you don't see him at all. This signifies Karl's change as a person. While he started off more whole with raw emotions, fear, guilt, doubt, in the end he is no longer who he was. He becomes a drone and a victim of his own subconscious thoughts. As his mind becomes more fractured, he essentially becomes the tool for Nin. There are also Panels where the two seem to mirror one another, but does that mean they the same? Is Karl Nin or vice versa? Does Nin really exist or is it just in his head? What is real and what is not. We won't say.

Okay this was a post of mine defending my love of EE on the message boards. I thought it might fit here as well.

Okay here it is. The very first panel gives us an insight into the ability and scope of our artist. We know we are on a space station orbiting a planet that may or may not be Earth. Then we see Karl first covered in blood, some one's talking to him is that a doll? "How did this happen?" Karl asks. We see blood and lots of it. Notice Karl's posture? You can see his disbelief and confusion in his posture. No look at the doll's posture notice how it is "laid back" as if it has no weight on it's shoulders? No look back at Karl notice his shoulders are low and look as if bearing a great weight? Now notice the slight skew to the panel? Does it make you feel a bit twisted as you read this story? You have to turn your own perspective to align it to Karl's. Now remember all this insight is the first page containing only 2 panels. Now look at all the blur on the other pages just hiding the gore. Making your mind wonder just what it is Karl has done. Then nin in a round about way tells you what has happened. Karl pukes. This shows his inner tension, his self disgust. His abhorance of blood on his hands. Then nin tells him he must live to deliver some message. Nin mentions killing more, can Karl do this? I want to find out. You can say nothing happens in this story, but if you did were you really reading it or just getting through it? There is alot to this story. It may seem like all a guy does is talk to a doll but there is so much more there. We learn a bit about Karl's personal life, and a bit about his skewed reality. Is he even talking to a doll? Did he really kill anyone? Is he even alive himself for that matter? I could go on forever but I'll just let you read or reread the Erebus Effect and discover for yourself.

hey pull, thanx for your support. the original idea for the 8 included a lot of scenes with gore and dead bodies, but we were worried that zuda might not accept it(we thought zuda was Pg-13 themed) but then came blackcherries zombie hack and slash and we thought, "well damn." believe me, this story more than promises to be full of action and gore that will be artfully done of course.

While Frank finds the artwork and coloring pretty fantastic, the story falls quite short of hitting the mark. Actually, if we would have seen what was written in the synopsis on these 8 pages, then this comic would surely be heads and tales above all the rest, because what is present in the synopsis is gold. It's a shame too because that synopsis had Frank hook, line and sinker; his vote was all but cast. Unfortunately we come to the story after all the action has unfolded and what is left is, literally and figuratively, a bloody mess. On the bright side, it is quite a beautiful mess...

Though I'm a big fan of this type of story, they often become redundant as writers don't bring new light to the table. The pacing works in so far as it doesn't try to jam pack information - but the artwork, and story line, seem like they'll be repetitive. Hard to get behind, despite my interest.

We weren't seeing too many twisted Donnie Darko/Fightclub -esque comics so we thought it would be interesting. we also thought that zuda was more of a PG-13 themed site so we just tried to establish the mood with our 8 and not add too much gore.

If we do win, i ASSURE you we will deliver!!

The planetary research station, Hemera-47, is under siege from within. Commissioned in the Bernard's Star system, the teams of researchers and biological engineers on board are assigned to research planets and moons for the possibility of colonization. In the days that followed, the team assigned to the Erebus probes mysteriously fell ill and began displaying signs of increased aggression and extreme paranoia. Recognizing the severity of the situation, Commanding Officer DANIEL TEMEN ordered the Erebus team to be placed in quarantine and to suspend the arrival of a relief crew for an indefinite amount of time. The story follows Biological Engineer, KARL MERIS, who breaks out shortly after being transported from the only holding cell. He then wreaks havoc on the ship by sabotaging equipment and releasing the infected Erebus team on the rest of the crew. After locking himself in a storage containment room, Karl loses consciousness after experiencing an intense seizure brought upon by an influx of past memories. He then awakens to find himself surrounded with dead bodies while having no recollection of how things came to be. With the demented Erebus team now roaming the corridors and spaces, Karl is left to gather his thoughts and memories while wandering the ship alone. Time is also running out. The mysterious character NIN is slowly poisoning his mind, and NIN has even more sinister plans for Karl.
