While looking for knock-off designer handbags in Chinatown, a couple and an Asian merchant are confronted by the local street tough, Raymond Galigari. Raymond is there to collect ‘protection money’ from the Asian merchants. Seeing an opportunity, Raymond and his goons kidnap the couple and present a choice to the main character: assassinate one of two children and the girlfriend is set free. Not completing the task leaves the girlfriend’s fate in the hands of bloodthirsty gangsters. The reader of Unconscious Life shares the same point of view as the main character; in essence the reader is the main character of this story. Whatever the main character sees or does, the reader sees it as if through their eyes.

Hey folks, if you happen to be reading this in July of 2009, Anthony and I have another thing up at Zuda - Assignment (http://www.zudacomics.com/node/1324) If you dig it, we'd love your vote.
Like how the palettes match the mood of the page. Cool Colors. Really interesting story, my sympathy for the hostage, ...makes me curious as to the outcome! Good One.
Great strip! Very intense. The concept of having the reader be the main character in the story is a very challenging thing to do, period. Using that technique with this type of story where the person is forced into such an impossible choice is great. Would love to see this unfold.
I like the art, you could use more shadow though. Great format and interesting story. More could be done to up the anti but it is a very promising start.
Pretty cool, love the art. It has a nice, gritty/cartoony style that really makes it stand out, and the coloring effects just make it pop even more. The story isn't too bad either. Lookin' good so far. Good luck!
hello :)
i really love this style, very idw:)
love the gritty textures and glowing luminesence of the panels, the contrast is beautiful:)
I like where this thread is going
good luck.
Great story. Hope we get to see some more.
thanks everyone for the great comments! Just two more days!!!!
That comic filled me with Anxiety. Which, I'm assuming, is the current emotion of the protagonist. Well done indeed.
Nice work - this is a great story premise. I like the coloring and inking style you chose. Would also go well with gritty watercolors.
Very nice work! Be proud.
I really like the textures and how they work with you drawings
Sweet stuff! If there was justice in this world, you would be smoking every one else in the competition.
Love it. I especially like the color schemes to indicate different times/moods/events. Awesome stuff. Good luck- I hope you win. :)
Great stuff. Best of the bunch. Thanks!
thanks for all of the positive comments! Now if I could just move up a little bit in the ranks......
This is cool work. Great feel to it. Good luck.
Fantastic drawing and story. I like the style!

I like the story and the art is interesting, I'd like to see more.
Solid stuff....Ur work has got some individuality, a different style.....very good work!!
Hey Anthony,
I think you have some of the strongest characterization in the entire competition and you know I'm a fan of your art. Good luck!
I'm not a fan of your art but I like your story so far.I want to see how it progress.
I always enjoy "hitman" stories! This one is starting out pretty good. I love the art style too!
looks well thought out. i look forward to more!

Corvis- you are on the right track about the colors. I'm trying to set mood with them.
Thanks for the comments everyone!
Good job, left me wanting more.
good stuff dark and gritty just the way I like it very, interesting with the POV style as well, The monochromeish for the most part color scheme with the exception of red. Is the blue showing how hes currently living in a daze or depressed? Is the sepia showing how he feels like his life is started to fall apart when all this went down? or am I reading to far into the background? lol
Very nice I love the artwork.
The writings solid, but the artstyle doesn't quite hit the nail on the head for me.
I added it to my fav and voted. Plus rated it 5 stars.

wow, grats on the huge jump!
absolutely.
Anthony, at least you're not an 'eye-injury' collector - them's the worst kind of maniac - eh, RKB?
Interesting story. The drawing has a crude, rough feel (I mean that in a good way) which works with your theme, I think the colouring is excellent. POV and framing is a cut above too. I love the paunchy boss. More!
mpd- thanks for the review. after i typed that, I knew someone would bring up the spelling error. I didn't think I could call it unconscience life ;) I see it more on a play with words.
everyone else, thanks for posting!
Quite a leap there! Good luck!

You'll take a look see ... if you know what's good for you. You wouldn't want to meet with an accident.
You haven't confused conscious with conscience have you? Easy mistake to make!
Anthony, dude ... this is solid! Great setup that leaves me wanting more. You've got my vote!
