Ron says:
Back in April we announced the first Zuda Comics Invitational - a competition where we invite ten creators (or creative teams) from any of our previous competitions back to continue their webcomics for an additional eight screens and a second chance at becoming an ongoing series.
We asked you to send us e-mail to see which of the ten webcomics should get an invitation - and boy did you! The response was truly amazing as Zudites lobbied for their favorite webcomics. We read everything, counted the responses and then, finally, extended the invitations.
For the past few weeks the respective creative teams have been secretly writing, sketching and finishing their next eight screens - painstakingly preparing their webcomics.
On July 7th you'll see the results of those efforts; however, right now it gives me great pleasure to announce the finalists for your 2008 Invitational:
Araknid Kid
by Josh Alves
Brave Ulysses
by Adam Moore
Crooked Man
by Gabriel Hardman & Corinna Sara Bechko
Dead in the Now
by Corey Lewis
Joe Comics
by Gabe & Chachi Hernandez
Re-Evolution
by Gustavo Higuera
Reno
by Dan Thompson
The Mundane Overrated Misadventures of Spudman
by Rory McConville
Teachers
by Gabe Ostley
Untrue Tales
by Sam Little
Welcome back, guys.
Good luck!

Interesting group. Should be good. I wonder how many of the comics chosen for a second crack at the Zuda gig were being continued anyway, and how many haven't been touched by their creators since coming up short. I know that Untrue Tales continued (and is awesome, by the way) but I haven't followed many of the others.

Greetings, my friends! The cosmic rays that inspire me from the Omega 523-B galaxy are being disrupted by weather balloons, clouding my visions! But I can predict that July's winner will be the one that looks the most like Bea Arthur! Farewell!

Wow I am so bad at picking the comics people will like. None of these were the ones I expected. I have no future as a submissions editor.

I was just over in the Explore Comics section to look at the original eight screens of everyone. Noticed a new feature(to me). If you hang over the comic icon a really nice bubble window opens up and gives you the synopsis and creator info. Pretty nifty. Kudos to Zudos, er, Zuda.

Actually, now that I thought about it, I just realized "The Litterbox Chronicles" and "Action, Ohio" might not have been eligible but it still surprises me about "Battlefield Babysitter" and "Demons in the Closet".

grifter78 says:
It's interesting to me that some of the entries who finished 2nd place from past competitions didn't make it like, "Battlefield Babysitter", "Demons in the Closet", "The Litterbox Chronicles", or "Action, Ohio". While others who were 3rd or lower made it.
