If you’re as tall as a skyscraper, had immeasurable strength, and could breath pure energy from your mouth, what would you do? If you were Bruno, you’d use your power to decimate cities and chow down on humans.
As the self-declared “King of the Monsters,” Bruno is the most powerful creature on Earth. He leaves only death and destruction in his wake. Nothing in humanity’s arsenal has ever been able to stop his attacks. That’s bad news for New Yorkers because Bruno and his best friend, Kongo, have set their sights on leveling the Big Apple.
Other than crushing metropolitan areas and creating mayhem, Bruno is a fairly ordinary fellow. He has a wife, Helen, is the father to a teenaged son, Junior, and lives in a cozy underwater cave at the bottom of the Atlantic Ocean. It’s a nice life but Bruno may soon be in for a rude awakening.
What happens when the “King of the Monsters” is not even the king of his own family?

nice funny twist to the giant monsters of old.
Hilariouse!
"Do I have to make all the decisions around here, Randy?"

Just like "Everyone Laughs at the Crocodile Man" and "Colonel MacTagart," this comic is far too original and funny to win. The art is fresh and interesting and the dialogue is charming as hell. Awesome work. I know that you'll probably be busy coloring "The Hammer," but I'd love to see more of your drawn and written work as well!
thanks metsuke and everyone else. We'll see if there's going to be an invitational again this year
INVITATIONAL I AM YELLING
Man! This should have won. I've said that before haven't I? I love this, King-Kong and Godzilla meets the Honeymooners! The humor was laugh out loud and the concept wonderfully original! Hope it continues elsewhere.
PS
I'm so sad Paul Newman is gone... He was my first actor crush... when I was but a wee Bot, watching Cool Hand Luke in junior high drama class.
God, I'm so pissed off that Middle Aged Monster didn't win!
Grrr...
I want to talk trash but I don't want to put that kind of crap out there. This is a good comic. I still want to know what happens next and I want to see more of your work Steve.
Fifth time's the charm, right? Am I right?
Guys...?
Anyone....?
Man, don´t give up. Your work is one of the best things that ever embraced Zuda. I love Colonel Mactaggat and Everybody Laughs at Crocodile Man, and I hope this 4th place is just an improvement over your last ranking positions. One day you´ll make it, and I guess this day is close. Congratulations man!
Dammit, Steve!
FOURTH?
I'm sad, now... although a congrats to Loren... but, dang...
Sorry Steve, great effort MAM is fantastic -bring on the next comic!!!!
Damn...We lose Paul Newman and MAM ends up in 4th....too bad.
...
Definitely looking forward to your next one Steve!
FOURTH?! Shame on Zuda
When's the candlelight vigil?
..
Look forward to your next entry Steve, though I would have loved to have seen this continue elsewhere.
Thanks a lot all for the votes and support. I was realy blown away by it all. I just wish I could have pulled off the win for you guys. I'll be back eventually though - I've got another submission in the works.
The Sting is where it's at.
Oh man... Newman lists! Let's see...
1). Cool Hand Luke
2). Hud
3). Slap Shot
4). The Verdict
5). The Color of Money
honorable mention - Nobody's Fool
My top 5 Newman favs

2.Cool hand luke

3.Butch cassidy and the sundance kid

4.The Sting
*************************************
5. Somebody up there likes me.
The Hustler's really good. I like the Color of Money better myself but nothing beats that initial pool game he has with Minnesota Fats!
Hud's got to be my favorite of his black and white stuff
I bought "The Hustler" on DVD just last weekend with Mr Middle-Aged Monster himself Jackie Gleeson - synchronicity at work!
Paul Newman is my absolute favorite. Sure - He's made some not so great movies... but the good ones... WOW!
I looked all over Saturday Night in Columbus looking to buy Slapshot but couldn't find it. I thought it best to mourn with such a great comedy. I almost settled for the Verdict but it was much too somber a flick for the occasion.
Though it's no secret Cool Hand Luke is my all time favorite movie.
(i've meant actor instead of artist, forgive my poor english)
hey, paul newman was a really great artist. rip newman.
Kind of reminds me of Dinosaurs and that TTT comic with Godzilla and Gamera. Of course, I love both of those, so it's no surprise that I found this funny as hell. I love the ending, too. :D
R.I.P. Paul Newman
You know where my blog is! A quite monsterous review awaits. OK it's at http://www.mpd57.blogspot.com - and yes I should've got an easier name to remember!
Really fun stuff!I love the vector art.
Solid comedy, and I like how your using the format as a tool instead of a boundry or obstacle.
Dammit. This should be winning. All right, Kidgloves is taking off the, uh, kid gloves. Steve, I'm going to do all I can to get everyone who voted for Boone to vote for this. I can't guarantee you a win, but I'll do all that I can.
See, this is why you should be nice to your sisters. You never know when you're gonna need their help. ;)
My sister is helping to spread the word too!
...
Final update....MAM #1!
...
Oh, and I got my MAMogram too! It is awesome!
Thanks Steve!
Anytime you wanna surge from behind and take this thing steve... :)
Thanks for the comments, guys (and gals). I haven't given up yet - But I just got passed in favorites by fourth place! Looks like I could be dropping a rank soon.
Wow Hilarity AND Drama, nice!
I have two favorites this month but I have made my choice. I dig this comic, you have my vote. Good luck!
This comic is awesome! C'mon number 1!
Yeah, Steiner. I'm an idiot. Of course the other Stoller is my wife. I had encouraged her to vote. I believe she also put each person from her work in a headlock until they also voted for you.
COUGH — ACK, THE SMELL, THE TOENAILS SCRAPING, OH THE HUMANITY AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHH VOTE STEVE AAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHH AAAAAAAHHHHHHHHBUBBA BOOWEEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAABUBBA BOOWEEAAAAAAAAAAAA HHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I hope you win, so then I can sue you for libel - I know you based this on me! Best art yet, and my favorite of your puny human comic efforts so far.
"I like the art, I think it could use a bit more definition/contrast. And the concept is pretty fun and original, I think the writing is the weakest part. The tone needs to be a bit lighter."
What an amorphous crit.
Finaly my login worked
