Newcomers Radek Smektala and Janusz Ordon present the tale of Milton Falls, an immoral prison guard with little respect for human life and a huge taste in power. After a life-changing event sees him relieved of his duties, Milton continues the reign of terror at a different facility... Until a familiar face among the inmates turns his world upside-down. Depending on what he does next, Milton may finally get a chance for redemption-- or face eternal damnation! Colorful cast of characters, fistful of heart-pounding action and a sprinkling of supernatural round out this unique take on the jailbreak genre that will take you to hell and back - literally!

Thank, ptimony. I've sent Ambush Bug an e-mail explaining the concept of Zuda.
You guys just got a good review on AICN... unfortunately, I don't think they have a grasp of the competition thing. Still, good work, guys! here's the link: http://www.aintitcool.com/node/39759
Hi guys,
...
That was a long month, thanks for support and votes.
See you soon!

Hey, guys. I'm sorry I wasn't here for so long - I'm moving and won't have an Internet connection for a week more or so. Anyway, thank you for your support. Make sure to visit www.hellbreakcomic.com. We have a little parting gift for you in the EXTRAS section - a beautifu wallpaper with an all new image from the world of HellBreak. Enjoy, and once more, thanks!
Strong comic and artwork guys.
Wish you a beautiful career in the comic-world.
Must succeed with this work!
Great run boys.
Hi Radek and Janusz, great comic and looks like you guys made lots of new fans, best of luck in all your projects in '09!
Radek and Janusz,
Best of luck with your comic endeavors in the new year!
Adam
Radek and Janusz, congratulation on an excellent comic. Well done this month. All the best with Hellbreak! Here's to an excellent 2009! -Rob
Unfortunately the final rankings don't accurately describe how good a comic actually is - just how popular. But you knew that already? Best of luck guys.
Very nice art and intriguing story hooks. Looking forward to more.
Very well drawn, nice comic!
Make this comic one of your favorites!
It'll put hair on your chest and a gleam in your eye!
And if it doesn't... at least you have good taste.
Hi,
...
Great we are still able to convince people to vote for us.
I hope to keep all of you with us till the end of this month and even longer. Having such amazing support we are going to push our art further and further so that YOU will have a lot of fun reading and watching our stuff. These are not "...my last words" ;)
Awesome. I love stories like this and this one stands out.
@kingofsnake
It's not like his name is Max Damage or something ;) We thought about it and decided that the pun is docile enough for the name to remain believable. Oh, and Strawberry Fields is nothing compared to Pussy Galore ;)

@crackwalker
The competition is strong and we're still wet behind the ears, but we're not throwing in the towel yet. As for the future - drunkduck is an option, but we're looking into print opportunities as well. Hey, if you like HellBreak, why don't you plug us on your blog? Thanks!
I dunno how I feel about the pun name.... its like in Quantuum of Solace Bod nails that redhead who says her name is "Fields" but if you wait to the end credits you find out her full name is STRAWBERRY Fields. Half of me is like "Awesome" and half of me is like "Oh, no!"
I can't believe this isn't #1 - I hope to see this continue in another form someday - Writing and art are great.
@Illnest
Thanks, I guess ;) We do have a structure in mind to maintain the reader's interest from screen to screen, so hopefully, you won't be disappointed if we get a chance to shine.

There's a second strike against the "last words" transition in your review. It will hurt the strip to change The Warden's font after screen eight, but I like the idea - we will surely keep it in mind for our next submission.

@CausleyConcepts
Yes, well, keep spreading the word! What I'm most afraid of at this point is that people will just relocate their votes because we're fourth and there's only one week to go. Guys, look at what happened with Aeon of the Dead - it jumped up two ranks in a matter of days. There is still hope, just keep voting!
------------------------------------------------------
@Erik Valdez y Alanis
Thank you! And, hey, what's the origin of your avatar? It's mightily cool!
------------------------------------------------------
@kingofsnake
Is that a good thing or a bad thing? Sharp eye, by the way.

@Annibot
Thank you for your continuing support. I guess you've earned a cameo if the comic continues ;)
This is such good work, I'm pulling for you guys!
I just realized your main character's name is a pun
I think it works really, really great. You've got my vote and best wishes to win this round.
Holy crap this frickin' rocks!! -- "There is nothing Holy about that statement" ;) You got my vote! Good luck on your late push for the top! -- Sean

vote.
Thanks a lot! Kunglu, it's an honor to be in the company of your other favorites. I hope you will continue to support HellBreak in this final, critical week.
All right I'm joining the crowd. I love this so far! The story is original, and you managed to tell the back story and set us up to want more all in 8 little pages. The art fits like a glove! You can feel the hot winds and suffocating heat of hell! And his flash back to the way he died on page 4 brutal!! You got my vote!
Hell-o! people,
....
Nice to see more and more visitors here, everythig is changing rapidly in this contest so we will see what not so far future will bring. Check sometimes our hellbreakcomic.com (maybe not yet but soon there will be some new works to see) Cheers!!!
Hell Yeah!
This is clearly the best comic on Zuda. No doubt!
Hope to see it as a regular ongoing series!
You guys ROCK THE HELL!
Hi guys,
Great version of hell!!! The dark atmosphere with the work of shadows and color are impeccable. The story it's just a nightmare (in the best way). Congratz! you've got my vote and become one of my favorites with 5 stars.
Great job lads, i hope you win !
StrokerX,
It pains me to do this, since you liked the comic and voted for it, but I'm going to disagree with you. I think the "Famous last words" transition is clear. If it takes a second reading to notice that, then obviously we did something wrong, so thank you for the feedback. Still, while there are many things I'd change in the script following the community's comments, I really think this particular transition works well.

Then again, we may be at fault for trying to pack in as much bang for your buck as possible. If HellBreak continues, we will have enough space to reduce the number of jump cuts.
This one def has my vote. How that number 1 comic has 16,000 views i'll never know...wtf. My only problem with this one is the way you show him dying. Very confusing how it goes from him talking to his friend to being in hell. Should have started with a shot of him in a hostpital bed or something...very awkward transition. But this is still the best this month.
@ZudaFan: Will do! Thanks for the space.

@Jim: Are you kidding? Plug away! Thank you!
Also, I've checked out Mr. Crimson at Flashback Universe - I'm sure Janusz will be proud that you compared his work with Diego's.
Wow - sensational art and a fantastic hook. The pacing of the story is just perfect, and that art fits it like a glove. (In some places the art reminds me of Diego Tripodi's work - which is a compliment.) This looks to be a great story you've got planned! You got my vote, my favorite AND a 5 star rating! Would you mind if I plugged you on my blog? - js
Dear Zuda Competitors/Creators,
I’m the creator of the Zuda fan blog, and I would love to interview all of this month’s creators. If you would be willing to answer 5-10 questions, to be posted on the Zudafan blog, please contact me at: zudafan@gmail.com.
Feel free to check out the blog: zudafan.blogspot.com
Thanks!

I did check it out, Multiple Fracture looks great guys.
Guys, you're really too kind. There will be no shame in losing to The Accountants. But hey, there are still two weeks to go and we're not going down without one *hell* of fight ;)

In the meanhwile, consider revisiting our official site at www.hellbreakcomic.com. It was updated with an animated trailer. Also, in the 'Authors' section, you will find a link to www.januszordon.com. The site went live today and there are still many things to be added, but you can see some pages from our print comic, tenatively called "Multiple Fracture". I will describe it in just two words - Moscow streetfighting. You know you want to check it out ;)

Just don't forget to spread the word about HellBreak. Thanks!
ditto...
However, I didn't realize it was a popularity contest this month.
Oh, man! This comic is beautiful and crazy. I liked the art right off the bat, but the prison stuff didn't really hook me. The Hell stuff, though. Jeez... I can't believe this is losing to that bear costume thing. Even if you lose, know that this is an amazing piece of work.
Nice work guys, a couple of pages get a bit confusing at times, but overall it's great, you earned my vote.
Bryy, once again, thanks for giving us space on your blog. I linked to it on our shiny new webpage - www.hellbreakcomic.com. I encourage everyone to visit.

DShade - I have not heard of Defiance until you mentioned it. From what I've seen so far, it looks intriguing. Thanks for the tip!
--
Dr.3 - I was hoping you will ;)
'views up on the blog.
(if I want to phrase things like Mal Reynolds, I will very well do such)
Good pacing, nice art, and interesting story. I like it!
Pretty good premise. Can't say I have seen something like this since Defiance back in early 2001 and 2002. I like the art but a bit more background detail might be good. Over all 4/5 stars and a fav. Maybe a vote too.
Annibot - just spread the news around the world and encourage people to stop by to this section
...............
Albatross - "creeeeeeepy!! craaaaaazy!!! nasty!!" I like these words too!!!
...............
famished - You are always invited!!!
...............
rudis - many many thanks!!!
...............
Smektala - do you ever sleep?!!! These people need you leater too ;)
...............
cuervoscuro - I'm looking forward to show you other hellish characters
..............
andresz44 and grizzlywilliam - thanks for your kind words
..............
infernalbbq - constructive critique always appreciated, cheers!
This still has my vote this month, but upon reflection there are a couple of points that I reckon didn't quite achieve what you seemed to be aiming for.
.
I basically ignored the heartbeat panels and only just now have really appreciated that they represent the guard dying and reliving some relevant recent-past moments. (duh, I know) You could have done it differently if having the panels come across as the flashbacks of a dying man was an important element for you. I think it still works without that impression though.
.
Rendered in the spirit of constructive critique, I've got my fingers crossed for the competition coz I want to see more. Good luck!
@cuervoscuro: Thanks. The designs for the Hell Dwellers are all Janusz, so props to him. My ideas, as presented in the script, were much less interesting ;)
--
@andresz44: Let's hope we can attract more people to HellBreak so your vote won't go to waste.
--
@grizzlywilliam: That's an interesting comment, and very valuable at that. Could you please specify which panels are unclear?
As for too much info - believe me, this is only a small fraction of what we have planned ;) There are dozens of plot twists, complications and mysteries still to come, community allowing.
Well written dialog and a good, menacing pace
think there are a few unclear panels (since you're dealing with such a monochromatic palette) where I was unsure of which character was who. Maybe a little too much info for an 8 pager.
Seriously though, I can't wait to see where this is headed. Great work.
I like the concept a lot, strong art, this is a great work. The only thing I don´t like are the "beep panels" that doesn´t add to the storytelling and aren´t as beautiful as the rest of the art in the 8 pages. You got my vote and a favorite. Good luck!! I hope you win, I want to read more of this.
I like the hellish characters, this first 8 pages are appealing.
